About Us
Our mission, our story, and the people behind Legacy Forest Garden.

I served in the Army Reserves for over 20 years, deploying to Haiti, Iraq, and Afghanistan. In the military, we're trained to think about second and third-order effects — not just what happens next, but what happens because of what happens next.
Planting trees in North America is great. But planting trees where families can use them — for food, shade, income, and resilience — creates ripple effects that go far beyond carbon capture. More oxygen and more opportunity.
Through my previous venture, TrulyGarden.com, we planted over 125,000 trees. I'm proud of that number, but it's still well short of my goal of one million.
I started Legacy Forest Gardens out of a simple frustration: every time I wanted to honor a friend's loved one, my options were a generic card or expensive flowers that die in a week. There had to be a better way.
We partner with Trees.org, recognized by the UN as one of the best ecosystem restoration projects on the planet. By bundling donations, we turn your tribute into real, lasting impact for families in Africa. And while other tree-planting companies charge $30+ per tree, we keep our operation as lean as possible so more of your money goes where it matters — into the ground.

Today, I'm semi-retired and live in Los Gatos, California with my wife Sue and our two kids, Ryan and Zoe. We're out on 20 acres of hillside where I'm building a forest garden of my own — because if I'm going to ask the world to plant trees, I'd better be planting them too.
